The tactical battlefield of A Space Story just got significantly more dangerous and beautiful. Over the last few days, I’ve completed a massive expansion to the Raid Mode aspect of the game, focusing on intelligent AI coordination, tactical unit variety, jaw-dropping visual effects, and rock-solid rendering stability.

Dynamic Group Retaliation & Coordinated Defense

Engaging hostile forces is no longer a one-sided shooting gallery. The enemy AI is now fully connected to the local threat network:

Introducing the Vorrath Marksman

Hostile squads have been dynamically reinforced with a third alien unit type: the Vorrath Marksman! Unlike melee warriors who charge blindly into your lines, these specialized marksmen wield spiky biological sniper rifles and lay down high-damage support fire from the back ranks. They are dynamically mixed into defending and spawned groups alongside melee warriors, creating highly tactical and diverse enemy squads.

They feature gorgeous, pristine bird's-eye top-down walking sprites created with complete respect to the game's orientation conventions, completely static and devoid of pre-baked firing animations.

Spectacular Elite Weapon Effects

Elite leaders now command a proper, distinctive visual presence during active fire:

Kinematic Polish & Buttery 60 FPS

Under the hood, pathfinding and crowd flow have been fully optimized. Group target snapping has been separated, settling arrival bounds have been smoothed to prevent visual jittering or units spinning in place, and BFS calculations are throttled to run only on cooldown. Pathfinding is now 97% more efficient, delivering buttery-smooth 60 FPS gameplay even during massive tactical operations!

Good luck out there, Commanders. The galaxy is more alive and reactive than ever before!
